Lloyd and Vera's oldest son James became famous throughout the Soviet Union for his role as an infant in the 1936 blockbuster film Circus. Said to be Stalin's favorite film, it was phenomenally popular in the USSR. Indeed, it's difficult to overstate the impact of the film. Young "Jimmy," as he was called, was known wherever he went and one song from the film became a sort of Soviet national anthem for decades.

Today, James lives not far from me in Washington, DC. I love to visit him in his apartment that is filled with mementos of his eventful life in the Soviet Union.
