Andrew Leddy holds a Master’s Degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Virginia and traveled through and worked in the Soviet Union and Russia from 1982 to 1995. For nearly 10 years after that he dealt in antiques in Washington, DC before becoming a high school English teacher for thirteen years.
Always interested in art and antiques, his discerning eye and curious nature have given this painting and Patterson's story a new life. Leddy's thirty-year journey of discovery has uniquely qualified him to tell the story of Lloyd Patterson, a quiet and unassuming man who took an extraordinary step to create a kind of life he had little chance of making in his own country.
